  • Fight bacteria and fungi

Wormwood, also known as artemisia absinthium, is an odorous perennial that belongs to the same family as the daisy. This plant releases an aromatic odor and has a spicy, bitter taste. The wormwood plant is native to Europe and certain parts of Africa and Asia. Today, it also grows wild in the United States. The plant typically grows to be 1-3 feet tall.

Benefits of Wormwood:

  • Beats Malaria
  • Fights Cancer Cells
  • Gets Rid of Parasites
  • Treats Crohn’s Disease
  • Contains Antimicrobial and Antifungal Abilities
  • Treats SIBO

Wormwood is often used to fight malaria, fight cancer cells, eliminate parasites, treat Crohn’s disease, and sibo. The plant also contains antimicrobial and antifungal properties, so it can be used to fight bacteria such as E. coli and salmonella, as well as fungi like candida.

Wormwood contains a chemical called thujone which is highly toxic to humans. However, in dried form, wormwood contains very little thujone, thus making it safe for wormwood to be taken by mouth in amounts commonly found in food and beverages.

Recommended Dosage: The dosage of wormwood powder is 500 mg . The maximum dosage of wormwood should not exceed 3 capsules per day.

Before using wormwood for any health purpose, speak with your healthcare provider to understand the potential benefits and risks, and ensure that it doesn’t interfere with any medication you use or medical conditions you have.

Because wormwood contains ingredients that may have toxic effects, people with certain medical conditions should not take wormwood, including those with:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding: Animal studies show that wormwood may cause miscarriage.
  • Epilepsy or other seizure disorders: Wormwood may increase the risk of seizures and reduce the effects of some anti-seizure drugs.
  • Kidney disease: Wormwood is toxic to the kidneys and can lead to kidney failure, particularly in people with chronic kidney disease.
  • Allergies: Wormwood is part of the Asteraceae family. If you are allergic to plants like asters, ragweed, or marigolds, avoid wormwood.
  • Heart disease: If you take Coumadin (warfarin) for heart disease, wormwood can increase the effects of the blood thinner and cause bleeding.
  • Wormwood is not safe for children.

Pregnancy & Breastfeeding Artemisia Absinthium (Wormwood) is UNSAFE in pregnancy and breastfeeding. It may cause bleeding, uterine contractions and then miscarriage.

As is the case with taking any supplement while you are pregnant or breastfeeding or taking medication, you should always consult with your healthcare professional prior to usage.
