100% ORGANIC SARSAPARILLA ROOT

Common Uses for Sarsaparilla Root:

  • Balancing hormones
  • Help to lower fluid retention
  • Boost immune system

Sarsaparilla, also known as Smilax Ornata is a perennial vine used primarily for balancing hormones, lowering fluid retention, and improving one’s overall immune function. It grows in warmer temperatures, so it is found in southern states of the US, Central, and South America. Wild sarsaparilla vines can grow up to 8 feet long, and are made up of starchy, edible roots. The plants produce small berries that are edible, though the roots are used more commonly.

Sarsaparilla contains many healing components, including saponins (anti-inflammatory chemical compounds that help to kill fungus, bacteria, and harmful microbes), plant sterols (found in many high-fiber plant foods and shown to benefit gut health, heart health, and digestive health), flavonoid antioxidants (linked to reduced inflammation and improved immune function), and more.

Certain studies have found evidence of at least 24 extracts obtained from wild sarsaparilla plants that help to naturally treat or prevent cancer. Sarsaparilla also promotes hormonal balance and can help to soothe coughs, fevers, and colds. Sarsaparilla is also considered an effective method for treating skin conditions such as fungus, eczema, rashes, and wounds.

Recommended Dosage:

The appropriate dose depends on your age, health, and tolerance to herbs. You may also want to take it with food as sarsaparilla could upset the stomach, especially when first introducing it.

A typical dose is 2- 3 capsules a day.

While there are no serious side effects to taking sarsaparilla, it is possible to experience an allergic reaction or an upset stomach when consuming.

As is the case with taking any supplement while you are pregnant or breastfeeding or taking medication, you should always consult with your healthcare professional prior to usage.
