There is an old saying in Sri Lanka: observe the elephant, who grazes on Gotu Kola in the jungle and lives for 200 years. Whether legend or observation, it speaks to the extraordinary reverence with which Centella asiatica has been held across Asian traditional medicine for thousands of years. Known in Ayurveda as Brahmi (a name it shares with Bacopa monnieri, reflecting both plants' reputations as premier mind herbs), and in Traditional Chinese Medicine as ji xue cao, Gotu Kola is one of the most widely used and deeply documented herbs in the Asian herbal tradition. It has been revered in Sri Lanka, India, China, Japan, Indonesia, and South Africa for centuries as a longevity herb, a nerve tonic, a wound-healing botanical, and a cognitive wellness ally. The 16th-century herbalist Li Shizhen included it in his monumental Bencao Gangmu — the Compendium of Materia Medica — as a longevity herb. one of the most significant natural cognitive and circulatory wellness herbs available. A small, low-growing perennial in the Apiaceae family — the same family as carrots, celery, and parsley — Gotu Kola grows in the wetlands and moist soils of Asia. Our Gotu Kola capsules deliver 100% pure wild-crafted Centella asiatica at 600mg per capsule with nothing else added.
